Many of our bank customers have had automated phone calls or text messages today, notifying them (incorrectly!) that their debit cards have been blocked or cancelled. This automated system then prompts them to enter their debit card number and Social Security number for verification. However, the system does not provide a return phone number. These calls/texts are SPAM! Our debit card company would never use an automated system to call our customers, nor would they ever ask you to divulge your entire debit card number. This scam is not limited to CentreBank customers only, as we have heard reports of other banks’ customers having the same issue.
